About
A platform built to travel
CARAVANT connects artists, cities and audiences through large-scale, accessible and site-responsive artistic experiences.
01 — Definition
What is CARAVANT?
CARAVANT is a scalable international public-art platform designed to operate across countries and contexts.
Rather than a single fixed event, it is an edition model: a framework for bringing international and local artists into a host city, working at architectural scale in public space, and producing artworks that respond to the place they are made in. Each edition is developed with cultural institutions, municipalities and production partners so that the artistic ambition and the operational reality advance together.
02 — Purpose
Why CARAVANT exists
Make contemporary art accessible outside traditional institutions.
Connect international creativity with local identity.
Transform public spaces into places of meaning.
Generate meaningful public participation.
Leave a cultural, social and visual legacy.
03 — Historical inspiration
Routes, stations, exchange
Caravans were networks of movement and exchange. Along their routes travelled goods, people, stories, knowledge and cultural influences — carried across long distances and many languages.
Caravan stations were historic meeting points between travellers from different regions. They can be understood symbolically as early intercultural meeting spaces where people, languages, knowledge and influences crossed paths.
